2006 Tempranillo

Deep, dark red color with aromas of dark fruits, raspberry and a touch of eucalyptus.  On the palate, bramble and jam complement subtle spice and earthy notes.  Pairs well with barbecue, steak, as well as some poultry dishes.

about the Tempranillo grape...

This variety of Spanish origin is the main vine of the great Spanish red wines, such as Rioja, and it adopts different names according to the cultivation area: “ull de llebre” in Cataluña, “fine red wine” on the Ribera del Duero.

A colorful wine is obtained from the Tempranillo grape, with the aroma of berries and spices. Tempranillo also fairs well when aged moderately in oak casks. It is not very rich in tannin, but it is well compensated when mixed with vines such as Graciano or Cabernet Sauvignon. This variety remains fundamentally Spanish, and its expansion throughout the world has been scarce. Argentina has the second largest surface planted with Tempranillo vines (they occupy the third position of surfaces planted with red vines, following the Bonarda and Malbec varieties).

In Argentina, it was a variety used to produce simple and mass wines. Nowadays, this trend is changing to produce high-quality wines.
